Updated pics of KCustom's truck with 35's

Post by adrenalnjunky »

Brule -- KCustom emailed me pics of his truck - wanted me to get them to you to update on the site.

they're huge, so I resized them down to forum-friendly size, and made each pic clickable to take you to the 1024x768 sized originals. (Dialup users prolly shouldnt click unless you have some reee time.)

Those tires look huge on there. Not going to get much flex in the rear without rubbing the fender pretty good. Still looks good though.

wow. i am really confused about what yall are talking about...

so ya, the truck looks killer...but ummm...i am concerned about cornering and bumps and stuff like that.

i used to wheel with zr2's who had the 2"BL and the 6" SL and they would rub on their rear fenders which were 33" openings and they only 33" tires.
let us know how that combo goes and be careful, i hate to hear crunch when flying over some rail road tracks.

I would not take that truck off-road...Too much time and money involved. With the lift, supercharger, 35's, shiny paint job and a great sound system, I don't know if it will see any dirt roads....KCustom???

i sure would love to drive it to see what the power feels like with 35's...i sure hope its got 3.73's in it. i cant imagine it with 3.42's....i wonder if that supercharger makes up for the lack of gear????

i want to know what it will do in the 1/4 mile and see how it compares to stock crewcab numbers. :D :D

mike a.k.a. LS1ZR2 i think ran a 12.5 with his zr2 with his 33's and SL6

The tires that are on there now are BFG ATs 315-70-17. I do have the 33s for wheeling but the 35s are for street and shows. They do clear pretty good no problems so far. The truck does have 3.73 gears (and factory rear locker) and I have reprogramed for the tire size with a Hypertech PPIII. It runs really well with the supercharger. I am thinking about going to 4.56 gears, but it will have to wait for a while. Over all I love the way it rides and handels. I am looking forward to getting it out in the mountains with the 33s after the shows are done for the year....I still need to finish the fender flares for the front and rear. I will try to get some close up photos of the clearance in the wheel wells....

Just if anyone was wanting the conversion, 315-70-17 calculates to be a 34.4 inch x 12.4 inch tire.

Do yourself a favor and trash that stock radiator cap. Get a good rubber sealed cap. The stock caps are poor to say the least, and lead to air contamination of the Dex.

front flares

Post by KCustom »

I put the Bushwackers on the front to keep the stuff off of the paint to get to the show...The custom flares for the front and rear are almost ready to pull parts on and fit to the truck....

I have about 3/4 of an inch more in the front to go up, but I am in the process of making a set of rear shackles to rase the truck 1 inch so that it will be level....Once that is done it will get me by until I start on the cut out flares....

Seriously. That is a damn sharp crew. Anyone of us would love to drive it. I am sure it was very nerve racking waiting for superlift to do thier thing. No doubt the blower was a pita. I won a national event with a 1971 SS454 Monte Carlo and it is something to be very proud of. Congrats.

Post by KCustom »

I did all of the mods except re sewing the seat covers. Just striped the covers and foam. Cut the frames and made new pieces (sides and new hinge points) and welded them in, and had a local shop mod the covers. I had the thin crapy material on the backs of the seats replaced with the same material as on the sides of the seats. I wanted room for a couple of amp and subwoofers...

Also, warnoffroad did you have two different lifts on there to fit the 35's then the 40's? If so im only interested in the lift that could fit the 35" bf mt's. Ive been waiting for this SL for so long that anyother option ill consider..and seeing how nice that truck looks with that lift.. im very interested... lol.. thanks

Yep...he's all custom. SFA with leaf springs up front and I think blocks in the back (don't quote me on that though). Dual t-cases last time I heard too. He hasn't been here in a while though.

It would cost about as much as 5 or 6 Superlift kits. :)
