New wheels...among other things... need opinions

Post by Walt »

Well....I could never make up my mind on what I wanted for Christmas, so I received cash from my folks and my in-laws (yea baby!).

I'm currently stuck between two wheels. Both made by Cragar. Here are the specs no matter what wheel I get:
15x8 Height and Width
4" Backspacing
5x4.75" Bolt Pattern (duh!)

My 31x10.5x15's will be going on first, but eventually I want to go with 32x11.5x15's.

First are the "D Window" Series 342 wheels. These are the more traditional "Rock Crawler" style wheels. I think I like the look of these a bit better. Out of stock, will be available Jan. 4th.

Next are the "Soft Eight" Series 397 wheels. A bit different, and a few dollars cheaper per wheel. Must not be as popular since they're cheaper and still in stock. I like these, but I don't know which will look better on my truck.

I'm still leaning toward the Series 342 wheels :) Any opinions, advice, suggestions, etc....??

don't be like everyone else with black wheels....be different. i'd go with the 397's simply because they are more unique than the others. there are so many people running around on black rock crawlers these days (at least in michigan) i'm begining to think the factories are putting them on stock! the 397's put a twist on the black steel wheel look.....they are like a breath of fresh air.

There's at least 3-4 different manufacturers that make the "Rockcrawler" style wheels. I have them, but if I were you I'd get the 397's also just to be different.

Chrome wheels wouldn't look quite right on my truck :)

Have a dilemma. I went ahead and ordered the 342's. I know....everybody's got them, but the more I compare the two, the more I like the look of the 342's :? I ordered them from Jegs, and two of them will be here by Thursday. The other two are on backorder with an ETA of February! So I cancelled those two that are BO'ed and am about to call Summit to see if they're getting them in on the 4th for sure... hope so :(
