CV halfshafts...

Post by RocK »

Has anyone been able to or would be willing to snap a couple of pics of the side of the halfshaft that snaps into the front diff and give me a spline count. along with the length of the splines. Then an over all length, but that doesnt have to be perfect. Preferably with a set of calipers... I have an idea that could be so dangerous the DOT would throw me in jail if I even began to know what I was thinking about...

Thanks in advance.

Sorry, can't help you but, I do not think you have any worry from DOT if modding your own rig.

You really like the HMMVEE set up but, what about those gear or chain drives out towards the wheel that lets the half shaft sit horizontal?

Anybody that has just the PA lift... Can you tell me the clearance from the top of the tire to the bottom of the fender with the max tb crank. Also a plus if you are running 31's. By the way is the RPO for the factory locker "G80". <---i am getting old.

Quickbiker... would it be possible to get an upper and lower control arm from ya so i can get some specs for ball joint angle and such. Unless you would be able to measure that and let me know. That is if you have not already gotten rid of them.

I was J/K about the DOT.

But these are the ideas running around in my head.

Goal: To create a dependable suspension to allow serious off road while maintaining drivablility
- 4 wheel ifs
- spindles off the hmmvee
- longer suspension arms to gain travel with less suspension movement. And less stress on the CV's
- maybe use a beefier axle because of the longer shaft.

that leaves the front diff and the rear diff.

the front diff would have to be stronger from what everybody here is stating. The rear diff is gonna have to be found out of a rear ifs vehicle or fabbed into one from a fullsize.

I guess those are some of the thoughts. i will have to do some ground pounding to see what i can dig up. but it really shouldnt be too hard as long as everything fits together where it has to. I can fab the rest. Thoughts..... Brainstormin here. So all ideas welcome. And I dont really care how feasable it is just so long as it can be done. I would like to do some jUmPing with her too. that sounds like fun. : ) Come on guys be creative.
