Wiring Help Overhead Console 12v Outlet

Post by PGH04ZR5 »

I am trying to wire a 12v outlet into the empty compartment that was designed to house the garage door opener. since the console lights are right there I wanted to tap into them for the power (even if it meant loosing a overhead light) I don't have a wire diagram so know the hot and cold wires coming to the bulbs or switches, can someone out their give me a heads up?

I'm looking at a purple and white wire running to the push button and a yellow wire behind that running to the bulb.

my last question was, are the bulbs power tied together? or will my cutting one also loose the other?

Thanks as always to the forum knowledge holder...

The C209 body harness connector is oriented on it's right side and lettered J-S on the right from the top down. H-A is the left or bottom row.

A - RAP fuse supply voltage - DK GRN
B - Backup lamps supply voltage - LT GRN
C - Trip Computer/NAV class 2 serial data - YEL
D - inside air temperature sensor signal (auto AC) - DK GRN
E - Instrument panel lamps fuse supply voltage - GRY
F - Ground - BLK/WHT
G - Outside air temperature sensor signal - LT GRN/BLK
H - Ground - BLK

J - Sensor return (auto AC) - BLK
K - Courtesy lamp supply voltage - ORN
L - Courtesy lamp switch signal - WHT
M - LED dimming signal - PPL/WHT
N - Vehicle speed signal - DK GRN/WHT
P - RAP Fuse supply voltage - DK GRN
R - Battery positive voltage - ORN
S - Ignition 3 voltage - BRN

At the display you have:

DK GRN- 12V RAP
BLK- Ground
DK GRN/WHT- VSS
LT GRN/BLK- Air Temp sensor
GRY- Instrument panel lights
PPL/WHT- LED Dimming Signal

Lamps:
ORG- Courtesy lamp 12V
WHT- Courtesy lamp signal

I would say you have a choice. ORG will be hot all the time. Fused at 10 amps.
DK GRN is ignition hot and also fused at 10 amps.

A better choice may be to add a terminal and properly sized fuse to the in dash electrical fuse panel. Then run the wire up the A post to the console. This would not be too difficult and eliminate overloading the stock wiring.
