Also found out he has an MSD 6A sitting around that we both forgot about!! He's gonna throw that in for $40 more!!!

I suppose that offsets the bad luck with the bed cover eh?

NICE, I used to have pullies on mine that I bought off of ebay and they made a pretty big difference but I figured out very quickly why they were on ebay.....the bottom pulley was bent and it destroyed a belt in about a month then I went back to stock and it just feels sluggish now. I think the two...

W00H00.....new mods for the crew :D

My old roomate has decided to "de-mod" his 4.3 Xtreme, and trade it in (for a Saturn Vue, which I don't understand, but it's his cash). At any rate, I've been assured the underdrive aluminum pullies, and TransGo Shift Kit (never installed) are mine for the taking at steeply reduced prices. Finally s...

Stock shift tables will never let it shift into OD at WOT......Just like Torque Management, it's a tranny "saving" feature. Likewise the TC should be unlocked at WOT, although that might be tickling a lockup point, and slightly bogging the motor making you lose the power required to maintain that sp...

How big of a factor is the gear ratio? I'm not real sure.....I did some math on the whole ordeal of gear ratios.... with a 235/75/15 and 3.73's, I'm VERY VERY close to the same overall ratio as my in-laws blazer with 205/70/15's and 3.42's.......well not much math, but thats comparing RPM at 70mph....

Who cares about the expensive mods.. Do what I suggest and it will only cost you around $20 - $25 and you will get better mileage. If you get 2mpg better then that saves you roughly 2gallons per fillup. The mods I suggest pay for themselves after only 4 fillups. I've already done what you suggest, ...

IMHO the best thing to do for better millage is nothing. take all the money you would spend in add-ons and put it in your gas tank. let's do a little math you currently get 15 MPG in town and we'll say gas is $2.25 a gallon and you fill up once a week and a half with 16 gallons, you get 240 miles o...

another thought on the tow/haul issue... i sometimes place my shifter in second gear, to prevent downshifting to first in certain low speed stop and go driving conditions, where the tranny would normally be making lots of up-down gear changes. with the TB mod, i often find the 2nd gear takeoffs to ...

Anyone know if this is a pressing issue on the '04 models? I'd like to think by the age of this thread that GM would've switched to the new valve shortly after finding it on models still being produced on the assembly line. Is there an inspection other than the colored ispection mark? I'll have the ...

The only reason I'm even close to hopefull about making the goal is that my Ex-Roomates Xtreme got 19.5 on average around town. He has a 4.3/4L60E combo with 245/50/16's, and 3.42's.......Where I'm looking at 235/75/15's and 3.73's I know I've got taller tires, and steeper gears, as well as a consid...

5mpg increase around town possible.....??

Just sitting here bored today at work with most of the bosses gone, and doing some research on how to get some better MPG's from the crew. Current average is near 14.7mpg or so. I get excited when I see 16 lately :(. Less than 220miles in a tank is pathetic at best considering a 13 gallon plus fillu...

Glad to hear you made it out OK, hate to hear about the truck. For reference, I bought my '04 ZR5 with every option and 26k miles on the clock back in April for $17,500. I think you should be able to find a comparable setup for comparable money. With that said I know if I was looking for a truck to ...
