Yeah, I was getting an occasional code showing my coolant wasn't getting warm enough, so I installed a new "Fail Safe" 195 degree t-stat.

Now, my truck warms up to just under 210.
Is that was other S10 trcuks read?

These shouldn't have any issues with popping off since it is held in place by 3 bolts.

The ones I heard that pop off are the ones that are held on by a big hose clamp.

I guess that could work OK, but seems like they'd have something manufactured specifically for plastic.

Heck, I ought to find a shop that does plastic welding and see what they could do to make the seam stronger, since that is literally melting plastic together until it becomes one

Yeah, that was my first impression was that it would be better to have it behind the air filter so the sensor would be protected better than if it were in front. That's what I'll go ahead and do. I just thought I'd ask since the instructions showed that it was OK to put it in front of the air filter...

Since I'm still using the stock style air filter, in the OE air box (with front cut out)...I may try locating it before the air filter if I can rig up some sort of shield to help keep debris off of the sensor.

Of course, that may be a waste of time
but it would get cooler air on the sensor.

OK, so I did have a P0442 code... And, I realized that although I had purchased a nice new Stant locking gas cap, I hadn't actually put it on my truck...so I did that and erased the code. The new cap should take care of this one. And, I also had a P0128 code...so I'm going to install a new fail-safe...

I have a brand new gas cap. One of the first things I always do when getting a new vehicle is buy a Stant locking gas cap.

I'll plug my scanner in tomorrow and see what's going on, and will also double check the gas cap to make sure it's clean and sealing good.

I thought all the drilling into the floor was referring to the back seat installation.

So, the Olds Bravada is a totally different body style?
It always looked very similar to me.

If they don't bolt into the stock locations in the floor, then I'll not consider Bravada seats.

I just got an email back from the company that makes these and they say these magnets can withstand temps up to 300 degrees. Considering the new pan has those air tubes running though it to keep the fluid cool...think my tranny fluid would exceed 300 degrees? I've never really given any thought to h...

Well, my only concern is that I don't know if this
magnet is built to handle the amount of heat it
would see inside a tranny pan.

Anybody know about how hot tranny fluid gets?

...of course, I guess I could always stick 'em on the
outside of the pan and they would collect small metals
shaving just the same as if they are on the inside.

OK, this is kinda related...but this is for my Derale High Performance Transmission Cooling Pan which is pretty deep... It will not pass a visual inspection. I'd bet that most state inspection guys wouldn't know that a pre-cat is supposed to be on there in the first place, so that shouldn't be much of an issue. If they ask about that new small section of pipe, just tell 'em that area got damaged and needed to be rep...
