Clunk

Could this be what some of us think are our shocks making noise? I thought the clunk I heard were my cheapie shocks but it has remained after replacement with the bilsteins. Could it be the hood hinge?

Fuel Door

The hinge on the fuel door broke causing the door to hang loose. Rust seems to have ruined the hinge. I found a replacement on LMC truck for $50 shipped, I'll still have to paint it though. I never had the front rub so this was new to me altogether. The inner lip on the fender was bent down a little after the rub. I didn't see any damage to my tires. I took a hammer and persuaded it back into place. Hopefully the stops will help with that issue. And here I was thinking 31s would fit ok...

Well I have given in and got the Bilsteins. Came in today. I will see if I get a chance to install tomorrow before work as long as I have time and its not too cold. That is quite the sale they are having, motivation for those that have not purchased shocks to get them now!

Maybe try looking for a Zr2 rear axle. There is another member on here that has one and the wider stance is nice as well. Also on ebay if you check s10 warehouse there are usually some available.

While you are under there, read the thread on the transfer case vacuum switch. And also read about the plastic distributor for when you will eventually be changing the cap and rotor. Two good things to look for and remember on these trucks.

Yes tow/haul does work! Shifts firmer than my firmer shifts by just a little. It does allow the transmission to shift into OD which I did not expect. It will help with the 4 place enclosed snowmobile trailer this winter. The retaining clips broke with me just unhooking them, very little pressure app...

I agree with what HenryJ has just posted. I looked at the picture and viewed it slightly differently. I thought the key was in the on position but with the engine off so it was reading around 12v from the battery. I did not really think of it that way though! Maybe about 3" higher than stock. Give or a take a little, depends on how much you cranked your torsion bars and what true size your tire is. Every vehicle is different. Get out a measuring tape!

Ok, it is beginning to make sense. Changes cannot be made to a PCM after the HPP3 has read/written its data or it will not match what the HPP3 had read previously thus causing a problem. It was just a thought in my head wondering how it would work.

I have made calls around here and cannot come up with a BCM let alone the wiring and button. The yards do not have anything available. The ABS in the early Chevy designs I think are junk. The pedal vibrates and does what it should however the vehicle does not stop as fast as if the tires are just before lockup. I think they back off the brakes too far. I know the studies and I know ABS is more safe, I just don't feel ours is design...

Some people have had issues with aftermarket cats throwing codes on the s-series. I would say stock is the best if you still have it lying around it might as well go back on. If you do not, I can't give a straight answer on what would work.

My K&N is taller than stock. The hood comes down on top of it so that it just touches. I have not had any issues with because of the touching after about 25k miles. If anything it helps. There is an issue with the aftermarket ones popping off, the hood holds it down quite well.

The heating and cooling will not have a negative effect on the JB Weld adhesion, the stuff really is amazing. If you tried it you would understand, quick, easy, cheap, strong. I have never heard of K&N units having this issue before. I don't really see how the plastic splits like that maybe being squished by the hood?
