I remember those things. I had Knots all over the back of my hand and wrists before I got the knack of them. If you didn't watch, you'd end up with more knots. Ouch. The newer version has the balls attached to two rods. Kind of takes all fun out of it.

Horsehammer, from my experience, if you are in much salt, your splices are on borrowed time. Heat shrink splices, or solder and uncured rubber is the way to go.

Believe Brule, you WILL have trouble with the Scotchlocks. I speak from experience, with 33 years with the WV DOH as a mechanic, I can tell you that trouble is just around the corner.

Sounds like you have the release pawl froze up. If thats not the problem, your cables may be sticking.

The problem is in the foot pedal.I had the same problem. I removed the pedal assembly, and one end of the spring had somehow fouled. once i cleared the spring, it started working again.

My truck has the same problem intremittly. I can usually hear a faint click just before it starts working again. It seems ro me that there is a fuse somewhere inthe circuit. I've been waiting for it to go completely out so I can trace the source of the problem.

In the conditions our trucks operatein, scotchlocks would last about 2 days to maybe a week before the green corrosion sets in and destroyes the connection. It pays to take the time to do it right if you drive on roads where salt is used. It will save time in the long run.

When I worked at alocal dealership in the mid 70's, GM reduced the oil level in the diffs to a half inch below the hole supposedly for fuel economy, or so we were told. We were given a TSB telling us not to overfill above one half inch below the level of the bottom of the hole.

After reading the ZR2 thread, I have to agree with the solution. I have seen pads cooked in only 40 miles after someone lengthened the rod on the master cyl, it doesn't take much. I think the rod mentioned above was only lenghtened by about one to one an a half turns.

Bads Crew, a used BCM might be the best way to go. All you would have to do is the 30 min Passlock learn procedure. It cost me $75.00 to have the new BCM programed.

HJ, you should have experience with air bags with the FD. These look like a less expensive version of the air bags. If they are half as good as the air bags I have seen, they would be a wprth while investment.

About 10 years ago, I saw a small block wedged int a 1st gen Blazer. I wasn't able to get a good look at this beast, But I know that it would really light up the rear tires. When I say wedged, I don't think you could have pout your little fingerbetween the engine and sheet metal on the sides and rear.

On the 01, the recxiever is located on the drivers side, an the panel under the dash. There are between 3 & 5 7mm bolts holding the panel in place. The ALDL iss located in this same panel. Thanks for the replies. Battery has been charged, am leaning to possible ignition switch problems. Ran into similar problems on a K3500 a couple of years ago when the heater motor wouldn't run. It doesn't help that I've had the creeping crud for the last couple of days.

Original GM manual. A little pricey, but well worth it.
