Well, I think my best bet is to go with the muffler off of the Saturn Vue with the performance V6 because I would think that muffler has less back pressure than the stock S10 muffler. That way, I can have a little better performance and still keep my exhaust quiet at the same time. I don't want to b...

I've never been able to find (so far) an aftermarket muffler that is as quiet as stock that is free flowing. I've never liked turbo, or performance mufflers on V6 engines so I'd like to keep it as quiet as possible. So, I figured a vehicle like the Saturn Vue with the performance V6 should have a fr...

Do you have any streetrodders around there? Ask them who knows exhaust. Then drop by for a chat and pick their brains. I think I'd rather talk to some companies that design and build mufflers and exhaust systems. They're going to know alot more about this than anyone else, I would think when you co...

From a layman's point of view. If, you want stock sound, then use stock exhaust. Our exhausts go from 3" to 2.25" IIRC after the cat. Ours is 3" in to the Cat. IIRC. Open it up a little and get a 3" cat back system and it will compliment any intake mods you have done, like a drop in K&N filter. Cho...

Well, I'd have to look pretty hard for a performance exhaust shop that knew what they were talking about. I wouldn't think the muffler itself would cost more than $100, maybe $150. My truck is used mostly for business use, so it's a tax write off :D which means I'm paying less than what it sells for...

I'm not sure I follow. Are you thinking I should experiment with used mufflers to see if I can find something that works for me? What I was thinking was, surely there's a few factory mufflers that flow pretty free on vehicles that have high output engines from the factory. That's why I was thinking ...

Free flow stock mufflers???
I'd rather keep my muffler stock sounding since I've never liked the way turbo or performance mufflers sound on V6 engines. So, does anyone know of a GM vehicle that comes with a performance V6 that has a large stock muffler? I was looking at the late model Saturn Vue muffler as it's pretty big to k...

I have never heard of using wide band 02's for better performance or fuel efficiency. Great, thanks for the explanation. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing anything that may help me get a little better performance/economy. Since I'm basically staying pretty close to stock, it sounds like I...

Did you check your local dealer? I can buy new GM engines for little more than the cost of a reman long block. No, not yet....but I did think about it and I'll call them to compare since a new engine would be preferable to a reman. Unless...it's a piston slapper  I guess you'd never know till...

Excellent! I was just over there reading up on what they do and it looks like they remanufacture the engine with alot of new parts as opposed to cleaning it up and slappin some new rings in. If I'm going to give this away, I want it to have a good engine. Whoever I go with, I'm going to drive it mys...

Source for Reman 4.3???
I'm considering giving my truck to a friend (after I get my replacement truck, of course) and was thinking about putting in a reman engine before I do (current engine is fine, but is about to trun over 200,000) So, I thought I'd ask and see if anyone knew of a good place to get a reman 4.3 engine at...

Why have wideband O2 sensor???
What is the benefit of having a wideband O2 sensor?
Does it help performance, or fuel efficiency?
I've heard a few folks talk about that and thought I'd inquire.

That's strange. Seems like someone would come up with one prog you could load on a laptop that would not only do it all, but do it all for multiple vehicles. Actually, I think the Hypertech might be best for what I'm wanting to do. I just want to play around with my ECM and tweak it a little. I wasn...

I'm currently running Duralast on my truck (that I'm fixing to replace with a '02 or '03 model) and have been for about 4 years. I've only had to swap it once so it's been pretty good. Still, I'd rather have a real AC Delco alt on my new truck because the idea is to tweak it and get it exactly how I...

I understand what you were saying about some parts store offering "replacement" alts that aren't actually AC Delco parts. I get it. Therefore, I'm looking for the Genuine AC Delco part. Brule, I checked RockAuto.com for an alternator for the 5.3L 'Burb and from what I can see, you got a deal. They listed them from $340 to $401 and yes, they are "AC Delco" alternators. Their part number for the $400 one is ACDELCO Part # 15755900 {130:AMPS} . Don't know if, this adds confusion or n...

140 amp stock GM alt...???
I read somewhere that there is a 140amp alternator that came stock on some other GM vehicle, and it bolts right on to a 4.3L engine. Anybody have any idea what GM vehicle(s) I could go to the parts house and ask for an 140amp alternator for, and it would bolt right on to my 4.3L engine? The reason I...

The lifetime warranted alternator is not likely to be AC Delco parts and the AC Delco will not likely offer a lifetime guarantee. I'd think someone like AutoZone would be big enough to get a contract to buy directly from AC Delco so they could sell genuine parts. I'll check it out before I get one ...

I've heard some of the cheap auto parts store do sell new genuine GM parts and offer a lifetime replacement warranty. I've been using Techron fuel system cleaner about every couple of months and I keep a good fuel filter on it and it's never given me any problems at all. I would buy a genuine AC Delco AD244 140 amp alternator. For an application I used a 2001 Suburban with the 5.3L and high output alternator. So this one is a direct bolt on that would fit all '96 and up S10 4.3L engines? Do you have to clock it at all? That's what I was hoping to do is get an AC De...
