Thats part of what I am trying to figure out I thougt of running a bar down the entire inside length and then bolting the rail on at multiple points like stock which would spread the load eveny across the entire length of the bed.

Well with cold weather finally here I can say that there definitly seems to be a bit less lag when slowing down and then accelerating into a turn. Hesitation is much less. No real gas milage or horsepower effect see just runs a little smoother.

Bed Rails

So I have the zr-5 package with the factory bed rails and the instruction manual states they are for looks only :cry:
Anyone know of a set of bars that are better/more useful ore a way to beef up the factory bars ?

yea I did that with my old 84 GMC Jimmy may it rest in pieces. Had the 2.8l with lots of mods and had the 4.11 front and rear diff gears from a 86 transplanted into it. Not very fast but man could it climb.

Cooper Weathermaster S/T 2 severe weather rated snows with studs 235/75R15. These are the largest passenger tire size of this. I have run this same type tire on 4 different vehicles and love them.

First real snow of the season :bounce:
Drove home in 4in. of slushy wet snow. Put er in 4HI to pass schmuck driving a f/s GMC at 35mph in a 50 zone up a grade with a truck lane. passing lane was nasty but I passed the guy smooth as silk. 50 was no problem in 2 wheel once I was past. :D

I like the fact that since Coopers aren't as well known they tend to be cheaper and the quality is fantastic. I run the ST/2's with studs and never fear any winter conditions.

I liked my AT,s but I only had them for about 20,000 mi when I traded the Blazer in. They still looked and performed like new but I never really pushed them. Max of 70mph and mostly 40-50mph daily driving no real offroading just a little 2-track.

I expect to wake up to an accumulation of snow every morning at this point. :D
My way of thinking is if I can drive over it I don't have to shovel it, so I am all set up to about 3 feet of powder :thumb:

Were they winter tread or all season? I have run Weathermasters w/ studs year round on one car for nearly 30000 mi but cooper does make a couple of " economy" tires that are rated for that short a tread life

B--L S--t Alert Just finished t bar crank on my crew. I really cranked mine 1.5" and watched while it was alligned with nothing but a couple of wrenches with no problems whatsoever as long as there is enough adjustment in the front end and the porkchop isn't bottomed out you should have no problems.

most of the adjustment was to the tierod adjusters whichever that is not sure if that is caster, camber or toe whichever it was way off. I haven't got printout of the before just the after numbers as his printer was dead. as long as it's good now I guess I am all set.

Here is a link. I put these in to fix sag in rear of the blazer I got it with 230,000K on it and it was a bit low in the rear. I just hoped that a new truck wouldn"t need them. Guess the rear suspension just really isn"t all it should be from the factory.
