The only accurate way to check the trans fluid is with the engine running, trans in park or neutral, and the transmission has to be fully warmed up which only takes 20 minutes of normal driving. Re: Stock CC- what size tire

Some of the factory GM hydroformed exhaust manifolds (LS7 for example) are almost as good as headers, however the factory cast iron 4.3L exhaust manifolds are not all that great. Gibson and JBA are good headers for the 4.3L engine. The hp and tq gain will not be as much as a V8, but you should still...

Re: Gas Tank

Gm Parts Direct has one for $428  There are plenty of steel gas tanks for the 01-02 models on E-Bay, but nothing for the plastic 03-04 models. Maybe nobody is making the plastic tanks because they dont rust and should last forever? :?: The rarity of these trucks doesn't help either. I would k...

Re: Stock CC- what size tire

GM never offered a 3.54 rear end ratio in any of there vehicles. The old 12 bolt rear ends had a 3.55 option, but not the S10's. You are probably thinking 3.42 ratio.

Re: A few mods done.

Most of the good suspension lift kits have drop brackets for the front diff. I wonder if you could just order the brackets from one of them, or just use the design and make your own? MOOG problem solver ball joints are pretty good and what I use on just about everything, however recently I've starte...

Re: A few mods done.

Looks good! Be careful with those torsion bar keys since they allow you to adjust way past the recommended Z height specs which accelerates ball joint wear and causes CV axle problems. The factory t-bar keys are already capable of going beyond this limit which is why we don't recommend using them. Y...

Re: Stock CC- what size tire

Anything bigger than a 30" tire will require modifications to fit, especially if the tire has an aggressive tread pattern that extends to the sidewall. If you want to run the Geolanders AT's I would stick with the factory rims. If you like the TA rims I would go for more of a street tire. You could ...

I would also recommend Moser axles. I've used them on 2 vehicles without any problems and I'm curently running them in my SS. Alloy is another good brand. I have their axles in my 4wd 88 S10 Blazer. Timken bearings and seals are also high quality parts. The wheel bearing and seal were most likely da...

Looks good! :thumb: I have the same rims on my SS only they are 17x9 with 285/40 tires. I also have the chrome Cragar center caps and lug nuts.

Re: replaced metal and rubber front drivers brake line

Another idea for "bench bleeding" would be to run the hose from the outlet back into the reservoir while still mounted on the vehicle. Have a friend pump the pedal to purge the air. If you do it this way, you need to jack up the rear of the truck high enough to make the master cylinder level. If it...

Re: Is my alternator about to die?

Yeah, wire and cable is pretty expensive these days. I still have at least 60 rolls of various sized tin plated wire and cable from 18 gauge down to 2/0 gauge from when I used to run a wire manufacturing dept for Marinco/AFI. I usually do all my own wiring projects, however Gary at Innovative Wiring...

Re: replaced metal and rubber front drivers brake line

To bench bleed a master cylinder you have to remove it from the vehicle, put in in a vise, run lines from the 2 outlet ports so that they dump fluid back into the reservoir, and then manually push the cylinder in and out until no more air bubbles come out of the 2 outlets. It helps to use clear hose...

Re: replaced metal and rubber front drivers brake line

Did you have someone helping you bleed the brakes? If not, you should, because unless you have a pressure bleeder, vacuum bleeder, or speed bleeder valves, you won't get all the air out by yourself. Those cheap one man bleeders don't work very well because air gets sucked back in through the threads...

Re: front bumper/cover

Maybe I shouldn't call it a mod, but it did look cool. I think he trimmed the plastic for more clearance since he used to wheel his truck much harder than any of us, but most likely he broke one side off then trimmed the other to match.

Re: front bumper/cover

LMC Truck is a good place to buy S10 parts. I've been ordering parts from them for years now with no complaints. Check out there S10 catalog. Lots of cool stuff plus they have several bumpers you can compare. I still like how the factory front bumper looks when you trim off the sides and lower porti...

Re: Is my alternator about to die?

The factory CS130D is rated at 100 amps maximum which is barely enough for a stock system. I am running a 200 amp AD244 in my 05 ZR2. I paid $278 for mine through Summit Racing. It is made by Tuff Stuff, part #8237B. This alternator has a black thermal coating and comes with the correct sized pulley...

Re: Installed new headunit and now two speakers don't work?

Also on a sorta related note the rear speaker issue with the CC trucks is bad plugs in the doors for the rear speakers. I cut mine off and replaced them with crimp on quick disconnects. This has been working flawlessley since I have done it and I can actually hear my rear speakers now in my current...
