That sounds right. I am surprised that pioneer did not included those harnesses. When I replaced mine, they had those in the box Not all vehicles would take the same adapter, so I don't see how they could possibly know what to put in the box unless they knew which vehicle they were going to be inst...

So, as far as connecting to my new speaker...

The wide side is positive, and
narrow side is negative.

Judging by the adapter, this should be correct.
Does this sound right?

In theory, it shouldn't matter all that much. If you plug them in and sound comes out its right. They can even be reversed and it usually won't make a difference. I've known a few guys over the years that were major audiophiles and they claim it does make a big difference in sound quality. At least...

I'd want to keep the high beam indicator on my dash so I know when the high beams are on, or not.

OK, I guess it wouldn't hurt to go with a larger wire size.

What about lithium grease?
I've always heard that's how many connectors are lubed at the factory.

Also, is it possible to use a 30amp breaker switch instead of an inline fuse?
Or would that not be a good idea...

SPAL dual electric fans If I remember right, the reason I was using a 30 amp fuse was because that is what they recommended. I thought about going to a heavy duty fuse holder that will accept the 30 amp fuse as far as physical size is concerned...but is designed to handle much larger fuses and amps....

What size fuse are you guys using on your electric fans?

I'm using a 30 amp and it blows about every 4 to 6 months for some reason.

Should I go with a 35 amp, or maybe switch to some sort of breaker switch?

Anybody know where a fella can get a magnetic drain plug for the rear axle housing?

Thought it might help catch some very fine shavings.

I've seen magnetic oil drain plugs, and magnetic tranny pan drain plugs...so surely they have these for rear axles.

Yep, this company seems to have two models of tailgate locks...one with just one bolt in, and another with two bolts.

I found several places online selling the single bolt, but was able to find the one with two. Or, at least the picture shows two.

I found some with a dual bolt in ( http://www.stylintrucks.com/parts.aspx?partfamilyid=188 ) as opposed to the single bolt ins I've seen in other places that don't look as sturdy.

I'll probably go ahead and get this one, unless somebody knows of a more heavy duty product elsewhere.

You could tape a line and paint it. On a tailgate it would not be too obvious That's what I was thinking since it's just a small scratched line on the very top of the tailgate where the plastic over hang was touching. The paint on the truck is perfect, so I wouldn't be supprised if the previous own...

Well, even though it's got to provide a little better air flow versus stock, it probably only gives 1/500th more pf a single horse's power so chasing this down may not even be worth it.

I do know I'm not interested in paying $300 for the complete K&N kit.

Yeah, I guess I'm getting so old that I'd rather have quiet than loud. I used to love running glass packs (on v8 engines only) and even blowing them out so they'd be even louder. Made it hard to come home after curfew (12am) when I was a kid cause I would wake my dad up with the loud exhaust I think...

Yep, but I'm not willing to give up my stock muffler because I'd rather have it quiet. Anything other than the stock muffler is going to be louder than what I want, so I'll just keep that stock and it'll run good enough like that. It's already proving to get about 2 more miles per gallon than my '96...

Well, now that I have my new 2003 S10, I think the only thing I might do is do a larger Y pipe, and leave the rest stock.

That is IF I can find an exhaust shop that does good work.

You know, I changed my oil for the first time over the weekend on my new '03 truck and it's doesn't appear to have an O2 sensor after the cat like my '96 does.

If you're installing an aftermarket CD/Stereo...isn't there an aftermarket plugin adapter that enables you to retain the stock wiring so you can simply plug in the new unit? That's how it was on my '96. Eventually, I'm going to want to install an aftermarket deck in my new 03 truck so I can have MP3...

Well, I looked in several different places and none are showing the rapid fire as being available for the 2003 year model.

Anyway, I'll probably go ahead and get the Autolite XP plugs since they've been working good for you and I know you've experimented with a few different brands....

I kinda like the idea of using the AC Delco Rapid Fire platnium plugs, but when I searched for my 2003 S-10 with 4.3L engine (X Vin Code), it only offered the regular platnium plugs. it just seems it would be easier to get a free flowing aftermarket muffler thats only slightly louder than stock. That would be trial and error as I've never heard of any aftermarket mufflers that didn't sound like turbo mufflers which aren't what I want due to being too loud. If I go with a stock ...
