Re: problems in overdrive

Did you get a warranty on the rebuild? if so I would have them check it first so they don't say you caused a problem when changing fluid. I debated and spent the extra $300 to stretch the warranty of the 4L60E I just had rebuilt for my Tahoe to 3yr/36K, the standard warranty would have been 12Mo/12K...

They are not recommending one to me I am checking into it. I have spent a fortune on repairs out of pocket that MIGHT have been covered with the extended warranty they offered me for 1200 when I bought the truck. Postby HenryJ on Mon Jan 25, 2010 10:39 am The whole distributor thing has me a little worried. Without removing it there is no way to tell it is seizing. There is no mechanical advance to go bad. I would get it in the shop FAST to have it checked out. A slipping OD is often the sign of these transmissions about to go out but with luck it might just need a filter change or a valve body replacement. Once it throws the gear plan on a 2000-2500 rebuild.

It's possible, but if so it must have been from the run in NH 4-5 years ago. The truck has not been off road since then. I would more go with the theory of a cheap replacement the first time at least until it either happens again or I can find any damage upon inspection.

Just trying to figure out exactly what is going on. The dome override switch should be on the out position when you want the lights to come on when you open the door (or hit the remote button) pushing it in should turn off the dome lights and they will not come on when the doors are open. If this is...

No need to be scared, this is the first catastrophic failure I can think of in all the threads on spacers and all the trucks running them that I can think of. My issue was one of a kind in that it is overly easy for me to over tighten any bolt if I don't pay attention. I would just carefully install...

Just a thought. Are you waiting 30 seconds or so after the door is closed to see if the lights go off? there is a delay built in to act as a courtesy light.

Uh yea, I was the one who broke 3 of 5 wheel studs on my stock hub, this was as I added the spacers but did not realize how LITTLE 100lb/ft of torque is when using a 3/8 socket. I bught a torque wrench after that to solve that problem. Is it possible the shop "helped" you by hitting the lugs when th...

First day it hit high 80's this summer (5 weeks ago) I started asking people if they were getting ready for cold weather they glowered at me, 2 weeks ago we had 37 overnight and have mid 40's most nights since. I see no issue with getting the plow lights rigged now.

First things first Welcome aboard. Of the list you have so far the first word of advice would be spend the money the first time and go with Bilstein shocks all the way around on your crew. It will be the best investment in money you will get in terms of quality of ride and handling. If your camper i...

The 2004 was the last year for the S10 Crew and it was only a 1/2 year production run. Most manufacturers just did not bother to update their catalogs to reflect the model year. There are a few differences but mostly they are the same. Most parts will fit but if in doubt you can contact the manufact...

I would check for air in the coolant system, have you recently had it serviced? if so air may have gotten trapped in the heater core.

Anyone notice?

Anyone notice how hard our trucks seem to work to get up to cruising speed compared to a similarly equipped V8 rig. After driving the Tahoe for the better part of a year while getting the crew back in action I think I just got spoiled on how little effort it takes for that big V8 to do what it does.
