I had the Summit cover on my CC! The Trick Flow cover they sell is also the same. Both add strength, protect the differential when off roading, and are reasonably priced. There are many more options out there if you dont mind spending a little more money, however the Summit & Trick Flow covers are p...

M Also where can I find a RELIABLE V-8 to drop in. From what I've heard our stock tranny is also bolted up to both of these power plants in bigger trucks. A used 4.8 or 5.3 from a similar year GM or GMC truck or SUV would be the cheapest option. The PCM in your S10 can be programmed to run the V8. T...

I would agree that GM is to blame for your problem. Yes, constant sun exposure and airborne contaminants can do damage to the paint, but not as bad as that and in only 10 years. Something was not done right in between the painting and clear coat process. The 2 did not bond properly. It's hard to say...

I personally wouldn't do either one with the mileage you have, unless you are prepared to have the engine rebuilt. Both of them increase cylinder pressures which puts a lot of strain on the rings, head gaskets, bearings, etc. It is always better to have the motor built around what you plan on doing ...

Go to a GM dealership or somebody who has a computer that can activate the ABS module while bleeding the brakes. That is the only way to completely get all of the air out of ABS unit.

I like all the extra room in the back seat! The lack of leg room in the back seat of a stock CC was my biggest complaint when I had mine. The console shifter in my ZR2 would look nice in your truck, and it's the right color. Maybe you could find one at a salvage yard or S10 Warehouse on E-bay?

Most GM dealerships cycle the ABS with a Tech II scan tool when bleeding the brakes, but they always want over $100 to do so! Pull the ABS fuse and drive it around. This is safe to do, just remember that the ABS will not work at all. Does it still apply the brakes by itself? Free S10 Crew Cab Bedliner
Like the title says, I have one S10 Crew Cab bedliner in good condition that I need to get rid of. You can have it for free if you pick it up in Napa, CA, or I could ship it, but I'm sure it would be expensive due to the size. If nobody wants it, it will be recycled.

Re: Newbie Stereo advice
Get a stereo from Crutchfield! They will hook you up with everything needed for a plug & play setup, and they give you all this stuff for free when you buy the stereo from them. I've bought at least 8 car stereos from them over the past 20 years, and have always been happy with their prices and serv...

Re: shocks
New shocks won't correct leaning or sagging which is caused by worn out torsion bars and/or leaf springs. You can adjust the torsion bars up or down on each side to raise the front of the truck, lower it, or to even out side to side measurements. If the rear is too low, you can install longer shackl...

Re: lost compression #3 cylinder not firing
Do you have a compression tester or a parts store near you where you can rent one? The threaded ones work better than the rubber tip style. If you are going to pull the #3 plug, you might as well do a compression test while the plug is out. You can also test a few other cylinders for comparison. Are...

Re: lost compression
You can also use that stuff to clean the IAT sensor which is the small sensor plugged into the air intake tube.

Re: lost compression
CRC MAF sensor cleaner works pretty good! Clean the 3 tiny sensors inside front and back.

Re: General Grabber AT2 vs Yokohama Geolander AT/S
The Yokohama Geolanders are good tires. They were on most of our highway/off highway trucks in the rock quarry where I used to work. Goodyear MT/R were used on the off highway only trucks. The Geolanders weren't great in the mud, but they did do good in the sharp rocks, rain, and highway mileage was...

Re: shocks
I tried Rancho RSX (now discontinued) and Bilstein HD shocks when I had my CC and the Bilstein's were better. The Rancho 5000's are a step below the RSX's and are very stiff shocks, so expect a harsh ride if you go that route. The Bilstein's really are the way to go, but if you don't have the $ get ...

Re: lost compression
Did they do a compression test or tell you why you have lost compression on # 3? What kind of compression #'s did they get on the other 5 cylinders? I'm just curious what caused the loss of compression; a broken top ring, broken valve spring, or something more serious? If you take off the valve cove...

Re: After Market Air Intake System
I have the Spectre CAI on my ZR2 and like it better than the K&N CAI that I had on my CC. I paid about $120 for mine at Pep Boys, but I know you can get one for less if you look around. The Spectre TB intake hat and heat shield are much nicer than the K&N versions. The filter is a bit big, but it do...

Re: Did the throttle blade today-results
Cutting off the restrictor does add hp since you are increasing airflow at all rpm's. You are adding at least 5 hp, but no more than 10 hp total, plus you are slightly changing the powerband. Definitely one of the best mods!

Re: Where do you all fill up at?
I use Shell, 76, & Chevron. I prefer Shell & 76, but I will use Chevron if the other 2 aren't close by. Gas mileage is nearly the same between all 3. I don't use anything else unless it's an emergency. Cheap low quality gas is everywhere. I wish they still made 93 octane, because that stuff made my ...

Re: Back Pressure Problem
No, take it back to the shop that did the work and tell them about every new problem that appeared right after they worked on it. They made a few mistakes, which is ok as long as they fix it right. You now have 3 codes as well. I'm sure they will help you out, but try to be polite if you can. Try to...
