My trucks original owner replaced the transmission like 3 times. The first one was the normal right after the warranty went out replacement from the dealer, it was rebuilt then once after and completely replaced right before I got it. This a 2003 or newer truck? If yours came with the higher end radio you will need that little GMOS box from metra to go between the wire harness to restore those functions. Other than that, theres no other function wires that you need connected from the truck to the aftermarket radio. things like th...

If you have GU6 3.42 gears in the rear then your front is the same. I could be wrong, but I think all of these trucks with the G80 were 4x4 3.73 gears

Good luck finding a zr2 rear, like hens teeth anymore. The ZR-2 rear was 3.72 gears so your front must match the same. I got lucky my truck had a G80 in it with that gear ratio so the swap was straight forward. I gave the old axle away as trying to sell an axle with 270k on it would be a hard sell.

ABS units failing on these trucks is a common problem. I wouldn't be surprised if its the module itself and not the sensors, but it pays to check with diag tools first.

Blazer axles are a dime a dozen. I think the local yards here (who are a bit pricey compared to the rest of the country) let them go for about 200. FWIW for a blazer just swap a used axle in. Something you could do with a friend in the back yard in an hour.

ZR-2 axles are so difficult to find, even if you had to rebuild it I wouldn't scrap it. I have been trying to find one for over a year now and finally got one only because of a project that got scrapped.
Even if mine experiences any problems ill do what I can to keep it around.

Last Monday Dave and I removed the rear axle which was donated to an Old Navy truck project on an S10 frame. http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w41/xk1llxy0urselfx/Crew%20Cab/20140616_172040_zpsnz8mjmvl.jpg http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w41/xk1llxy0urselfx/Crew%20Cab/FB_IMG_1402953746708_zpsduk...

Re: MPG help?
And how did that math account to your real world math? Mine seems to be right on the money on highway trips. Usually getting 16-19mpg with the V8 crusing at 70-75. Mixed driving+city the display will show 14-15mpg and is usually off by a whole MPG, and it is also off by almost a whole gallon of gas ...

You are using photobucket, usually you can just post the thumbnail link or there is a fulsize link. It looks like the whole picture to me on my computer but that could be because i have a full HD monitor. Smaller resolution displays the forum i think crops the images. If you need anymore fancy autom...

Re: flood damage
Anything for your truck needs to come from a 2000 up, computer wise. Anything in a 98 or 99 truck is not going to like talking to the Class 2 serial data bus. That includes overhead console DIC, gauge clusters, bcms etc.

Re: gas smell and bad fuel mileage
Id imagine its not easy. I paid almost a grand to have it done. You have to take the intake manifold off to get it out. While you are at it get a new set of gaskets for that, because they always end up leaking coolant at some point. Flush your system out and replace the Dex with the green if you are...

Re: Seeking recommendations for replacement torque converter
For the 4.3L engine stick with the stock one. Even with the V8 engine swap, the stock one seems to work good for that as well. If you are looking to get rid of the slushyness of the trans and get some better shift and throttle response a Corvette servo is an ideal cheap and simple upgrade for the 4L...

Re: gas smell and bad fuel mileage
Thats the power connection for the fuel injector. The wires are for the fuel injection poppets. Its probably no good, if its original it should be replaced anyways as the original units were prone to leaking.

Re: flood damage
What really has to be done with VIN matching? The VIN on my PCM does not match my truck since the V8 swap. Its a random vin from some van they used. Once it came back after doing the whole 30 mins of key cycling and relearning the security system should allow it to run and trade all the info. It can...

Will do! I always see the speakers on sale too. http://www.westmarine.com/marine-stereo-systems/dual--mxcp44-stereo-receiver-speaker-package--15004468 Something like this is probably not too bad to start off with. I am an audio nut so I have no problem spending 200 bucks on a Pioneer or Kenwood that...
