They won't be able to cut a key from the VIN. Only from the punch out number on the key. If your key is that worn, a new lock cylinder and keys may be the answer. I hope your fobs work out. Neither is going to be an easy fix. The clutch is a cheap fix. If you can do it and it does not leak. Changing the compressor is not so cheap. After 100k miles they probably do need to be replaced. The performance degrades with time and contamination. That said, some never get replaced until one fails. My luck is that they tend to cascade at that point. One fails, then another until I replace them all

It has been my experience that once the clutch goes, the front seals are not far behind. When they go the system leaks down and you end up changing the compressor.
