Our temps haven't been that hot, but many in the area still don't have power due to the storm last Friday 6/29. We were lucky and only lost power for about 24 hrs.

We don't have smog inspections here either, but a clamp wouldn't pass the visual inspection. When I tried to remove the remaining bolt, it broke off. There was about 75 to 80% of the bolt had broken, it only took a few pounds of pressure to break it off.

two years is the recommended service interval that I have seen in more than one manual. It seems to be the Industry standard.

After pulling the heads today, I remembered why I like my truck. they were agrivating to say the least. I'll have to pull rhe rest of the engine to drill out the broken bolt that caused all the trouble. At least I only have to replace the valves the way it looks now.

Sounds like the vacuum hoses are on wrong. try taking them off and turning the connector around. It's easy to get them on wrong if you're not careful.

If I let my truck warm up when it is cold, my milege usually drops to between 9 and 13 MPG. Since I've been running longer trips, i"ve been getting between 15 and 17.5 MPG.

A local radiator shop reccommended using Dawn dishwashing soap when one of our graders ruptured a oil cooler. I didn't think it would work, but the inside of the radiator looked like new.

Drilling out the rivets is not a bad job if you have a sharp drill bit and center punch as close to the center of the rivet as you can.

Roadrunner, I know what you mean in regards to opening caliper bleed screws. I made the mistake of not opening them on a van i had. That miscue cost over 700.00 to repair, messed up the ABS module.

Dexcool, Texaco/GM antifreeze, also known as Dexcrap. If you are still using it, drain and flush 2 or 3 times. Loves to eat intake gaskets among other things.

Reed, one thing I like is the VIN decoder. Input your vin # and get areadout of your options, and it gave me acomplete list of RPO codes at the end on my list. The parts lookup doesn't hurt to have either.

I've come to the same conclusion as Brule on the clamps. Over the last couple o years, I've seen less leaks with the OE (Corbin) clamps. A lot of heavy duty trucks have gone to a heat shrink clamp which works well, but can leat a little when the engine is cold.

I experienced similar problems on a 76 Nova. After droping the flywheel pan, I found all 3 bolts loose and wore almost in half. Replaced bolts wth Loctite, problem solved.

The rebuilt calipers had a complete hardware kit with them. The worst problem was the pistons were stuck in the caliper. Now when I take my foot off the pedal, the truck will start rolling on it's own, without giving it any fuel.

Fhe old lights were so cloudy that that lights were not very bright. I needed to replace the whole assy. because the originals were not in very good shape, there were parts where the sockets mount that were crackked and brokem. No I just put the original lights back in.

I found the answer for my problem by using Google. For your Problem, I'd try getting a wiring diagram from a factory service manual. Then too, you may have problems with the BCM. That's one black box that GM 's designers would have been better leaving out.

We have the Goodyear Dura Trac on our K3500 shop truck at work. They have been on for abot ayear and a half, and so far have shown good wear and excellent traction. We have went places in 2wd that on the older set we had to use 4wd. We keep the truck loaded probably close to or slightly over the rat...

Picked up the new headlight switch this afternoon, after install, everything is back to normal. Reed, you can have your Mallards back for now, and I hope Mr murphy has left to visit someone else. Thanks to those that offered suggestions.
