windows and grounds

This isn't really related, but as for grounds, they can truely destroy a car. Bad engine straps are often responsible for front wheel bearings failing , true..have found this one out first hand experance. In my case the motor had a gear broken...sorry it has taken me so long to reply, but had number...

I didn't have to clean much, as everything was really dry and clean already..I did replace the grease on the gear of the motor,
I took the old and am going to tear it apart and find out why it did that.

Sounds alot like what happened to me...I would take the cover off the differental and check out the side bearings, if they are damaged you should be able to tell, besides that, see if you have any metal in the differntal housing...thats a tell tell sign.

window problem

Well went to roll the drivers window down, went half way and that was it, tried to put it back up , no go, took it apart, looked good, motor thumped when button was pushed, so , I pulled up on the window, felt it move a bit, hit the button , up the window went, repeated it several times, same result...

Well I live in Fla and it was 95 the day I did it, so don't think I have to worry about the heating it up, one small ding on the hood , when I put dry ice on it , it just disapeared...dropped a peice and the dog got it, blistered the tounge

Dry Ice

Tried it, I am impressed with what it will do for a small dent, so long as there are no creases, it will be gone, as for dents with creases, took some out, not enough to really make a big difference, but it does work. No pictures, got the ice went to get the camerea and wife had it with the grandkid...

How does it work, is it really paintless..I have a couple dings, cause by the differential in a 18 wheeler blowing up as it passed me, scattering bearings all over the place..insurance paid up, replaced windshield, and major dents but still a couple remain....

Ok here, you have posted fluid enters by means of the heater control, could it not enter into the engine via the system. One always has to remember with any fluid, there is a way. White smoke indeed indicates antifreeze but also transmisson fluid.

I took the line off, then put it back, it is only functional in the defrost mode, with out it, my defrost didn't work...I also don't have the hot feet problem...so where does that leave me? Could it be where the units were manufactured and when?

Had yet to replace it, so to today, rainy and pulled it into the garage and did just that, not a big problem, broke all connectors loose before taking the main hold down bolt out ant then is was a breeze..
Run better, don't know, but doesn't hurt to keep it clean.

Took the unit out, has the fog lamp attached, took and filled it with water and tipped it up, saw that water was coming out of one corner and that was the only one, took air hose and put bit of pressure on it, and it indeed came out , must come in, at that point, took some super glue and then a smal...

rear end day two

Well drove about seventy miles today, tell you this is tough, its quiet, not use,(not complaining) to this, like having a new truck...
Got home and gave the truck a bath, nice cool water, good soap, cleaned all the bugs...truck likes that.......now for some MUD!!!!

Install

Well picked up the unit this morning, had to put my ring gear on and the rear end tech at the dealer said to just put the gear mating on the ring gear in several spots and turn it both ways to check the alignment. Well when I went to install the unit found that it was really tight, old one just fell...

UPDATE

Finished, drove several miles, rear end is quiet, so far, no leaks...thank you to all who helped...maybe I can some day return the favor.

Here in Fl its hot, and when the CC warms up I sometimes will get pinging from the engine under acceration, tried various things, gas, cleaning aids but nothing seems to work..any ideals

Rear end

Ok, not a problem, but don't know about the ring gear, when I bought the unit they said only thing I needed was the outer bearings and go, came with all the gears ..guess we will see on Monday morning.

Ok, thank you, but will this apply , I am replaceing the entire unit, which will come from the factory, only thing I need to add is the side bearings..as for shims, are those the two large washer like peices on each side of the side bearings. I found no other shim like items inside?

Any tips, it will come from the dealer all together except for the side bearings..I purchased new ones and have them, going to get a different cover gasket, felpro, and have that ready. Have cleaned out the all the crap left from the old bearings tearing up, lots of little metal peices.. My biggest ...

Did not know about the gasket, but the relocating the vent hose I did. Had moisture in the fluid, changed and flushed, but this could be the result.

new here but been doing lots of reading, my 04 ZR5 started makeing some noise in the rear end, pulled the cover found all sort of metal. Ended up pulling the entire posi unit out, side bearings on right side gone, ate up the unit. I have ordered a new one from a local dealer, 700. bucks, but be here...
