Bear in mind that you may no longer pass the visual inspection for those with emissions testing. When did you do your brakes last? The mounting bolt should be torque to 12 ft lbs. Yes you can. They have improved the locking mechanism also. Mine has a single attachment point in the center now they have two, one on each side of the bed. I love mine and glad it came with the truck. I don’t know what they cost but I suspect they may be pricey.
