Yes, you answered my question... basically, with leaving the bed-liner cap on, I will have to expect slight leaking. The tonneau rail for the front has a foam piece attached to the bottom of it, I'm thinking of cutting that off and reinforcing the corners with it. I don't know what I'll do, truth is...

I still have the stock 29's with the 3.42. IMO, it is the most useless gear ratio created for an engine under 250 HP. And I've noticed that this truck DOGS through 2nd and 3rd gear. I've gotten used to being that PITA pick-up truck that never seems to get-up and go from the stop-light. $900... not b...

I think Steven said it best... SAFETY. In order to get an S-10 up to an acceptable hauler for such a heavy trailer, you would have to consider strengthening the axles, differentials, a thicker tranny cross member... but most importantly, the brakes on the S-10 really aren't up to par. Granted, smoot...

On topic, but a little 'off'.... Has anybody had a hard time getting the foam/rubber stripping of the rails to fit 'just right' with the factory installed bedliner? Due to the rail cap on the cab-end of the bed, my rails do not meet flush with the cab-end side bed and the cab-end front bed just to t...

3.42 - better gas mileage on highway, light (as in no) towing, LIGHT hauling 3.73 - better gas mileage in city, or on highway with heavy towing/hauling Why are you guys blowing tranny's? If it's because of the gears, your overloading it beyond it's tolerances, we do have a VERY strong tranny, in fac...

Alright, now I'm scared to go somewhere else for service again. I took may Malibu in for an oil change once and they forgot to attach the lower air foil/skid plate. Once on my z28 they only put one lug per wheel back on after a tire rotation... different places. In fact, I've NEVER had a good servic...

I remember reading somewhere about the ingredients within the octane boosters being bad. I can't remember any details, if it was methylethyl-lethyl... anyway, it was on that old 60 degree v6 site. The moderator did a test back in '93/'94 and found that all of the octane boosters on the market contai...

I wish I could run glass packs around here, the cops would get me before I pulled out of my driveway. IMO, if you don't have the money for the FIPK, just cut out some squares in your air box on the other side of the engine. It will alleviate the 'restrictive' part, but won't drop the temp of the inc...

I think it was s-series.org that has a page dedicated to the different engines of the S-10. In '99, there was a 4X4 X and 4X4 W, I think, so that might have been the reason you had 180HP. BTW, with regards to fuel economy, check your gear ratios. I have seen MANY people on this site state they have ...

2003 RPO Engine - What's the dif?
Okay, so the 2003 V6 4.3L is an LU3. The ONLY info I can get on it is it's an MFI instead of a CPI fuel injection system. Any of you '03 guys out there know what else is different? What is the difference between MFI and CPI? Most importantly... Should I have bought an '02? BTW, the LU3 and L35 engin...

I've actually heard the opposite, that the Colorado Crew Cab will be coming out in April and the S-Series Crew Cab is done. While the rest of the Colorado will catch up in 2004. I've also heard that the Colorado will start in Fall of 2003 and the S-10 will be around until Spring of 2005 (so both wil...

I'll need to check my glovebox to make sure, but in 2003 there is no such thing as a 'W' engine. There is only one 4.3L engine in 2003, I guess they decided to use 'X' instead of 'W'. The more important letter/number here is weather it is a LF6 or L35. Either way, regardless of VIN or RPO, the 4X4 i...

I'm tired of gas mileage determining what I own
Okay, so that had nothing to do with it. I had a '01 Malibu and decided to go to a local dealer running $500 under invoice, to my shock, they WERE! A 4x4, actually worth something in 5 years, safe, tall, able to haul, and room for kids vehicle for $40 less a month! Well, I bought it. It's my first t...
