The idler arm is mounted on the frame right? That had slight play in it, most of the play is in the steering box. Any way to tighten that up?

What does this truck use in place of a steering dampener?

Wandering

My truck has always wandered a bit, but lately has gotten much worse. Nothing was found wrong during the last inspection 4 months ago, but I didn't notify them of the problem. Nothing seems to be loose in the front suspension. Tires have been rotated and correct pressure. The steering is a little lo...

I hooked up a gauge to it today and noticed when it lags in OD, the timing went all the way down to 2 degrees! The timing is fine otherwise.

I didn't know the cap and rotor even needed checked. What the heck is a distributor doing on this thing?

A couple of codes and questions

Had a code a few weeks ago something to do with the evap system. Hasn't come back since then though. P0300 random misfire. Changed all the plugs and wires today and noticed the two rear passenger plugs maybe were detonating a little. Had some crusty stuff and the tips were buggered up. Haven't had t...

I hooked up the scanner to it today and it said it was running at 175*. There are two sensors right? One for the gauge and one that ecm reads? I took out the truck today and paid attention, the thing warmed up to full temp in a mile and a half. Maybe it is the stat though, the spring could be wore o...

It would make sense, but the motor warms up like normal and at the same temp. I've had cars with stuck thermo's and they took 15 minutes to warm up and never reached full temp.

I don't think the stat is the problem.

I've never changed the t-stat. I wondered if someone had changed it to a cooler one, but factory gauges are rarely that accurate I thought. More meant for deviations. Its always ran this temperature though. I installed a k&n filter and did some mods to the box a year and a half ago. I did read somet...

p0128 *solved (bad stat)

I've been getting this code for a few weeks now. Truck warms up like normal, its always gotten to the 160* mark in the two years I've had it. I did get a code twice for an evap issue, and once for a random misfire (p0300). Probably due to the I"m guessing still factory plugs and wires. Did half of t...

I know the manual states that, but if they didn't you'd have idiots using it on hilly roads and would burn up quick. I can't see how its harmful to use it on a steady flat road at 70+ mph, but I could be wrong. I'll pick up a cooler. Maybe a deeper pan too. The servo seems to be a pita, and I might ...

RPO was GT4 so its got 3.73 gears. I've towed twice with it and it moves along and brakes well, its just the turns that suck. A trailer with brakes would help that alot.
So an auxillary cooler is just about mandatory? Can I put it in OD on the highway?

Decided to keep the truck and tow the drag car

I just can't seem to get nearly what I want for this truck, so I'm going to keep it and tow my 3500 lb car with it. No trailer brakes makes the rear end real pushy, but what I'm concerned about is the transmission. How will it do? I'm towing about 40 minutes, mostly highway. Starting from a stop up ...

Noise from transmission....

When I put the truck in drive, I hear a slight brushing noise. It changes with the rpms. It doesnt do it in reverse though.

I heard it might be something with line pressure or the valve body? Cant remember exactly. Could it be from gunk?

Grinding noise from transmission?

I hear a grinding noise only when the truck is in drive and I turn the wheel to the right, driving or sitting still. It will sometimes briefly go away on bumps and reappear.
