Re: This Turbo System?

Would this system actually work  Looks like another entry for the "red neck hall of fame" to me. All it needs to complete the appearance is a little baling wire. :roflmao: Look at the pic close the baling wire is there but it failed to keep the pipe away from the driveshaft  http://i8.e...

Dealer called me today, they want to keep it another day. It seems they have been through the same rear noise with a Suburban in the shop, they put the ring and pinion in it and the noise was still there. A former GM teacher of one of the techs suggested shimming the pinion out more (which allows mo...

They think it's the wear pattern on the ring gear. The warrenty co sent a rep out to look at it, he said nothing has failed, won't pay for a new ring and pinion. I'm stuck with a bit of a whine (no more than my S-10 had) but I got the front diff taken care of and new pinion bearings out of the deal....

update, they found the pinion bearings to be a bit loose in the rear, replaced, not it, found the side carier bearing visibly bad in the front diff, replaced that. They thought they had it, not. Now they are back looking into the rear diff as still having something bad.

Lots of play in the drive shaft will be the first clue it is going again. That clunk you get during a change in direction for the rear axle. It doesn't happen all the time, but will get noticeable. You will be told that slack in the rear axle and the clunk is normal. That is hard to argue. Some is ...

The side gears were not properly tempered. You will find them flaking. Check the centerpin holes in the carrier. They may be oblonged and loose. I think the carriers were soft too. I installed two sets of the updated spiders and side gears. You will find the tooth count differs on the updated parts...

If it had the open diff, I would bet the spiders, or more specifically the side gears, are toast. Since I think it had the G80, I worry about the condition of that unit running in poor lubricant, or worse yet lubricant treated with a friction modifier? Worth making sure the lubricant specified in t...

The ball joints seem to be holding up better as they are bigger. There were two different front sets of brakes offered. The police package had bigger brakes. That would be desirable. Check for leaks at the waterpump, front axle seals and transfercase tailshaft housing. Give it a roll back and forth...

On another note, which I hope you will chime in on, the yellow school bus is looking mighty bad underneath :( It has hardly seen salt and it has less than 40K on it. I wash the under carriage methodically. There is beau coup surface rust underneath her. I am not looking for a frame off restoration ...

Get A ZQ8 truck bar or a Blazer/Bravada 4 door bar these fit. You need the pickup brackets the Blazer/Bravada brackets are welded on.
