No need to unload the torsion bars, support the vehicle weight by putting the jack stands under the outer most point of the lower arms but still allowing clearance to remove the joints.

Nope no trailer brakes tonight. Trailer has them, but no controller in the crew at this time. I'm using tonight as a worst case test. No tranny cooler, or temp gauge, no WDH, no trailer brakes. I received the transfer case today It's in excellent shape the front shaft can be held still with a lot if drag and slips smoothly when the input shaft is rotated. Well worth the $140 even if mine turns out to be ok

I do not know if it is possible to skip a few steps. I have found that sometimes the GM manuals either forget a step, or add in a few unnecessary ones. I just got back from a 90 mile tow. We towed my sons new Jetta on a car dolly total weight around 3500. It did real well on the open road in 3rd grar, but merging onto the highway up hill was not fun. I sure wouldn't want to pull that kind of weight every day.

HMMM mine only takes about 5minutes at most It may depend on the year. Mine unit didn't follow the steps in the manual to a "t" but it worked.
