Re: The Old Forum

I'm always late to the party. My old ride is a 92 and not a Crew Cab, but I plan on keeping it as long as I can because I don't want or need a new vehicle. I would like a late CC or Jimmy, but when money is tight, you do what you do to get by. I realize this post is posted 13 and the last was 06, bu...

Re: Optima , Odyssey, Deka, Battery information

Though this is a very late reply, I too tried the Deka and it didn't last but maybe 2.5/3 years. I went and bought a Duralast Gold with supposedly close to a 1000 cranking amps though I don't recall the CCA's. It has served very well. I usually have a 8" fan blowing on me for .5 to 4 hrs with the en...

Henry, I got that price from gm parts direct. It MUST
be for the reman. I don't have a clue as to how much
J&N would charge for one of the new ones they offer
or if they are even for the public. BUT it is nice they
offer a new one..

I went to AC/Delco's site and for giggles I looked up one for a GMC with a 4.3..It looks like the AD 244 was used on these as well. My question is, just which one would fit and why doesn't AC offer new ones ? Strange don't you think ?. I want to update my alt on my old 92 Sonoma with one of these, b...

Well how interesting..I was just mentioning that my old Optima deep cell was about kaput, and sure enough it died on me after just running my fans for a while. That's a first. So I looked around for the Deka and low and behold they are made local to me here in SoCal. [well. if not made local, East P...

Henry, How's that Deka holding up for you ? I have an Optima in my truck which went in back in 99. It still works well. It has only died two times and that was my fault. However it will soon be time to get another battery and since the Optima yellows are now close to 200.00 bucks, I'd like something...

I've been reading this thread and Henry J posting over at the s10 forum regarding the AD 244. I did a bit of looking and found this. It seems one can obtain the AD 244 in diff amps as well as an option of an extra heavy duty rectifier. http://www.alternatorparts.com/ad_alternator_order_page.htm I to...

Is the CS-144 alt mod/ testing avail ?

I recall Henry J doing testing on the CS-144 and finding that
some parts needed to be changed out to make it a better
alt. Is this project wit results still avail here ?

Thanks, bg

I've read but can't verify that Flexi was having some probs with their VSC's. I don't know if it's faulty components or workmanship, but this isn't the first time I've read of a Flexi VSC prob. I like the one Spal is making now, but the prob is that the probe goes into the head, not the rad..Hmm. An...

I don't have a CC, but I have done a steer box change as well using a rebuilt YA box along with the str pump mod and replacing the OEM steer shaft with one I made up using Borgeson DD tubing and Flaming River billet u-joints. Pretty darn tight now with a 2.25/2.50 turn lock to lock. http://jeffd.50m...

Well I finally got theses gizmos installed. I had to use the short u bolts at the rear and the long ones at the front due to a leaf being pulled out of each pack. Anyway I have to admit the handling has improved. At first I wasn't sold, but the more I drive it the more I can tell that sway has decre...

I've been trapped like that too. Catch a shirttail under the wheels or something goofy like that. I used to have a Snap-On creeper that had those shape edged wheels on it and one time I was backing up and got my arm pinched by one of those things..Let me tell ya, that poor ole Snap-On creeper went s...

Here is another review from a member over at an S-10 site. I'm posting it here as he installed them on his Blazer with a rear sway bar. This way you can perhaps get a lil better idea as to how they'd work for you before you spend the money. Vipers first update reviews how it worked after adjusting t...

Sway probs ?(Leaf Helper Springs)

I don't know if the CrewCabs have a rear sway bar, but if they don't and you're having a prob with body roll around corners, maybe these spring helpers might work. Since all I have is a poor old 92 Slonoma ST, I'm not up on what the later S-trucks use for suspension parts, but I thought maybe some h...
