As far as quality goes, the SL kit appears to be pretty nice. I wonder why many don't keep their trucks very long after installing it.

If you plan to run 31's, I'd personally step up to 3.73's, not 4.10's. The 4.10's will give you more power, but will negatively affect gas mileage on the highway. Sounds to me like your front diff cable is engaging when the engine is running, because the vacuum actuator under the battery box is receiving vacuum in 2WD for some reason. The only thing I can think of that would cause this, is the transfer case vacuum switch sending vacuum to that vacuum actuator...

What's really wierd is going wheeling with them connected.....after having wheeled without them, for a good while! I did it today, and it was amost a night vs. day difference. No "floating" or following of the terrain, and I was lifting tires everywhere. Pretty crazy.....

When those junk 4.3 mounts break, your fan is gonna eat your fan shroud pretty hard. That fan is connected to your water pump.....and that can't be good on it either. Just be easy on it when under a good torque load.

Texas Crew Cab Owners

Out of sheer curiosity, how many Texas Crew Cab owners are members here? I am from the DFW area, and always like to meet & wheel with fellow S-10 enthusiasts, regardless of the particular style! So, post up! Where are you Texas Crew Cab folks from, and how often do you hit the trails?

Setting this all on a ZR2 chassis would be an advantage since the cab forward frame rails are narrower. This allows for a sharper turning radius. Could you expand on this a little more? The ZR2 frames are 4 inches wider than a standard S-10 frame....but you're saying that the front section of the Z...

Well, on the ZR2's, the frames are fully boxed to just above the rear axle. On the CC, the frames are fully boxed only to the front spring hanger of the rear axle. My only qualm with the CC (and the ultimate reason I'm not driving one right now) is the rear axle positioning & bed configuration.
