The slip yoke is not pitted or rusted. it is very shiny. There is a shiny ring where the old seal sat on the yoke but no perceivably groove. The seal that I installed seems to be leaking worse that the other two. Is there another seal further into the transfer case that seals the splined shaft?

So the transfer case seal for the rear drive shaft was leaking on my CC so I had it changed while getting s front end alignment. Wasn't long before it began leaking again so I change it myself today. Turns out the radiator had restricted flow. Replaced the radiator and hoses and everything running cool now.

I changed the thermostat and radiator cap and did not get boiling over after the 30 min test drive. I the engine temperature did rise after I turned the engine off the temp did rise to 225 according to the temperature gauge on the dash. Does that sound normal?

Just replaced the cat yesterday. Thought that changing the cat would solve the overheating issues also. Have had a head gasket and intake gasket issues before but both times I got an SES light with it. Thermostat?

My engine seems to be running a little hot but consistant around 210 according to the dash gauge. Changed the crank shaft position sensor and the truck started right up. Three times it started right up. Then this morning back to crank and no start. When I crank the engine the RPMs don't register on the gauges and the SES light is on.

Any Ideas?

Crank Shaft position Sensor

I unplugged the crank shaft position sensor while the ignition switch was on and now the truck won't start. When I unplugged it there was a funny noise that sounded a similar to the fuel pump. Help!

I had time a lunch to run the engine to normal running temperature and read the inlet and outlet temps of the pre cat and the cat. The pre cat is 365 in and 415 out and the cat was 331 in and 273 out. Any thoughts?

I've tested the voltage at the MAF and the air temp sensor and have 12 volts with the engine not running. I borrowed a laser temp gun to check the cat at lunch. Maybe I'll try checking the voltage with the engine running.

How do you check for a bad wheel bearing? I've been having some speed related noise that sounds like the passenger side wheel bearing. The noise is louder and faster as speed increases. That was my take as well. If I go Yoko I'll likely scale back to the HT/S it's closer to the Michelin LTXs and 10k more tread wear than the Yoko AT/S.

Thanks to the info here on the CC site, I got my 1 1/4" wheel spacers today from CompleteValue and could not be happier. Great quality, only $60 a pair and free shipping. Now my rear wheels stand proud in the cavenous rear wheel wells, or at least as proud as the front wheels :thumb:

On a scale of one to ten, it's about a 1 to 1 1/2 as long as you have a dremel tool. I'm sure you could easily cut off the whole shield with tin snips or a hack saw and clean it up with a file and emery cloth. I used a circle template to trace an arched line round the shield so it maintains its tape...

I just finished the cut down version described above and WOW :shock: what a difference! The truck jumbs right out of the hole on acceleration from a dead stop now. This has to be the best mod for the buck. A close second would be the poly front sway bar bushings.

What did you paint them with? and how did you prep?

I hit mine w/ wet sand 220, washed with soap and water, wiped down w/ alcohol, four coats rustolem hammered black and four coats duplicolor clear coat. Hope it holds-up!

...got all four flares off and cleaned up this evening. Turns out August in MA might have been a better time to remove the front flares with the 3M double stick tape. Using a carpenter's chisel now to separate the tape from the flares... :?

...well maybe a fresh coat of spray paint is all that's in order for the bumpers, and some brush on for the rocker panels. It is certainly not worth dying over.

The slip joint is lubed -up and everything is back together...the noise is as loud as ever. The noise from the steering shaft is substainually dampened. I quess it wasn't the steering column.

What next? :?

Ok...I've got the wheel off and the fender liner out. After that the shaft between the steering box and the fire wall is a snap to remove. The rag joint is good and tight. The slack seems to be in the slip joint at the other end, fire wall. There are no visible signs of wear and it is full of grease...

The crunk has developed into a ful blown rattle whenever the driver's side front wheel hits any bump in the road. It sounds like it could be coming from the steering shaft, up high under the brake master cylinder. The engine was too hot to check to night. Will check first thing in the morning.

Great video! The ball joints are pretty new, but I'll check it for good measure. The clunk comes in multiples at the frequency of the front wheel moving up and down over bumps.

I have that noise in mine too. I have stock cd-am-fm. Cooling fan on back of the radio. Noise is audible with radio on or off.
I to have the same stock unit. Is there a cooling fan on the back of the unit?
