Re: Wrong Differential Gasket And Cover ?

Hey folks, it has been awhile since I signed-in, prolly because my crewcab has only 45,000 miles and hasn't needed much aside from dry rot/lot rot. I recently installed Proform's awesome Bowtie rear differential cover with bearing cap preload bolts. I filed oiling slots into the inside edges for the...

Re: ABS problem *solved* bad VSS

My problems only occured while in motion "warmed up", never at start up. I can't remember if the CEL came on with the ABS warning light, sorry. In the early stages of the VSS failing (before tranny started going into limp home mode), "I could put the pedal to the metal, and everything was fine", for...

Re: ABS problem *solved* bad VSS

I looked in all my old receipts and I'm sorry to say that I can't locate that part number. Maybe a Chevy or GM dealership parts department can help you.

I sure appreciate everyone's thoughts on this one. It was a hard nut to crack. Limp home mode, and the threat of a blown transmisson had me pretty freaked out, so I hope my comments and solution will save someone some aggravation.

Well, it seems all the problems were due to a bad Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS). Had nothing to do with the ZR2 wheels, nor putting them on. So, yes it was related, but had nothing to do with anything I did. So, if anyone has ABS activation at low speeds, and/or speedometer flux, and tranny limp home m...

04crewvt, You are correct about "Bad wheel sensors are a problem with some GM products". There IS a TSB on front sensors for 15 models, 1995 to 2003, including mine and other forum members: Brakes - Low Speed (Below 5 MPH) ABS Activation Bulletin No.: 02-05-25-006B Date: January 05, 2006 TECHNICAL S...

Hello 04crewvt and Snoman002, I sure am grateful for your suggestions. I checked the front wheel sensors and wires, when the ABS light first began to glow. Haven't fiddled with the brakes, other than inspecting them when the wheels were off. Everything appeared as it should be. The only other thing ...

killian96ss, Thank you for responding. I totally agree, and no you didn't miss anything. The appearence of the truck sitting a little higher with the ZR2 wheels, may be an optical illusion created by the different style rims. I didn't take before and after measurements, but a friend did ask if I cra...

Split topic and edited title-HJ Hello Everyone Sorry it's been so long, single parenthood keeps CC tweaking to a minimum, so I usually just read a few posts with nothing to say. I have the ZR2-PA3 wheels on my CC. Picked them up at ebay for $128.50 + $60.00 shipping. The AR aftermarkets required mo...

One should always have a hammer and nails handy. They can be used for many things. Once when I was out fishing, the pin broke that holds the prop on the boat motor. There just happened to be some nails in the tackle box. One nail held the prop on long enough to get the boat ashore  A hammer is...

Update: A couple more trips in the truck, and it seemed that the fan blew less and less. First checked the fuses, all ok. Took a hammer and lightly tapped the blower motor box, and whoosh I could suddenly hear the air flowing thru the system. The blower motor was stuck! Working fine now.

Heat/AC Problem

I've experienced this problem the last 3-4 times I drove the truck: When I'm cruzin down the road everything works fine. When at idle, (in drive or park), no heat, no air, and no fan. It doesn't matter if the truck is warm or cold. When the truck is running but not moving, all I can get from the hea...

Hey Mark

I'm sorry I failed to mention the box only has one terminal. That was probably because the series set-up is fine for my small amp. I really do need for each sub to have the full power of the amp. Please excuse my lack of consideration, it was an oversight

The weather was perfect this past weekend, and the kids cooperated. Everything went well. The new headunit, door speakers, amp, and sub box are all installed. The amp is held in place above the jack box with velcro. All the wiring to the box and amp are hidden nicely under the doorway thresholds, no...

Just had an added suggestion: You could use an old cooler to store ya stuff in the bed, under the cover. Keep a clean old towel in it, so if ya need to move it to the back seat, to haul your bike, you can set it on the towel.

My Leer cap keeps all my stuff in the bed clean and dry. It locks (which also locks the tailgate), has dark tinted, locking windows, sliding side and cab windows with side screens, and even has a clothes hanging drop-down rod. The tail-gate opening was big enough to slide in an electric range on its...

Hi Justin 4" mounting depth for the JL's WILL be tight. I may have to shave 1/8" from inside the back of the box so the magnets won't be hitting it, or figure a way to raise the sub from the front.
