Another source of popping sounds on the S-series is because the t-bar crossmember is a floating design supported by 2 hangers with rubber mounts. When one t-bar is compressed more than the other the whole crossmember will move to one side and make contact with the frame. If the rubber bushings are w...

Re: Throttle Blade, spacers and other intake mods talk
With a 2"BL you can run any TB spacer with a K&N FIPK. Installing a TB spacer actually helps regain 1" of the 2" BL to help prevent misalignment problems with the intake system. I gained a solid 1 to 1.5 mpg after installing a Powerdyne TB spacer on my 01 cc which already had a FIPK. After 90k miles...

Do you have a tb spacer installed? Are all the intake hose clamps tight? Did you reconnect the PCV tube on the back of the tb intake tube/hat? Is your belt slipping? Is the alternator making a whistling/whirring noise?

Re: Posi Frontend
Why haven't more people attemted to install a full size 8.2" IFS front diff? This would pair up nicely with the ZR2 8.5" rear. I know Mike did it and was at one time thinking about making a kit to do the conversion, and then nothing was ever said again about the project.

Re: Optima , Odyssey, Deka, Battery information
I still have 3 Optimal red tops going strong with no failures to report. All 3 are model # 9004-003 which are the big red tops. The one in my SS is over 13 years old and still works as good as new. The other two are 4 and 2 years old and working just fine.

Re: Posi Frontend
It is important to remember that everything being said is just opinions. I do not have a front locker, but I do know people who do have them and some that have had them in the past. I know 1 guy who did have a failure that was probaby caused by the lock rite, but he is also a maniac off road, so I d...

Re: Posi Frontend
A lock rite in the front diff works fine as long as it is not heavily abused. One thing that has been proven is that the aluminum front diff is not as strong as the cast iron front diff (locker or not), so if you want a reliable locked IFS front diff try to find one of the iron diffs used in the 5 s...

Re: Sloppy front end/steering
I Also, I would like to replace all of the front end bushings, do you know who sells a kit for our truck? Thanks Energy Suspension sells all the polyurethane bushings for the Crew Cab (upper a-arms, lower a-arms, leaf springs, sway bar. body mounts, etc.). One thing worth pointing out is that the E...

That's the first time I have seen a pinion shim failure, but I'm sure your not the first. The pinion usually loosens up because the crush sleeve gets deformed or the bearings start to wear out. Thanks for taking pictures.

Re: Stuck in 4wd high.
Are you sure it's in 4wd? The dash switch might be misleading you. If you are stuck in 4hi, my guess would be a bad encoder motor or faulty dash switch. I had the same problem 2x when I had my CC. One failure was caused by a bad encoder motor, and the other was a messed up dash switch. You might fin...

Re: Rear Locker, Good idea?
Awsome... I will deffinatly look into the tru-trac....Did you buy any other parts for the rear end before you installed it or just the unit itself? I used a complete installation kit (bearings, races, shims, seals, marking compound, carrier bolts, crush sleeve, etc), but I also put in new gears. If...

Re: Rear Locker, Good idea?
I would get a Detroit Tru-Trac gear driven differential. They are always active splitting torque to both wheels, and they don't violenty engage like the Eating Gov-Loc. I have one in my track driven SS and my 88 S10 4x4 Blazer. The Tru-Trac is excellent on road as well as off!

Re: Trade S10 for Colorado?
The S10 looks better, has a better engine with more torque, and is nearly the same size as the Colorado. Unless your running into costly repairs with the CC, I would keep the S10, and wait until GM makes a better mid sized truck.

Re: ZR2 rear axle upgrade.
To get things back to where I had it , I need to add some 1" spacers to the rear. It just looks better to me with the rear slightly wider. I still have a set of 1" spacers from my CC if your interested. I used to have them on the rear to match the front track width. I don't know why I have hung ont...
