The leak is interior, not exterior. Fluid is sucked into the HVAC system destroying the slaves and controls. $1800 in repairs for a $20 switch failing. Read the transfercase switch thread for more.

Crawl underneath and check the "triple hose" connected to the transfercase switch. That is where the fluid will be coming from. The blower motor resistors are not terribly expensive. I don't think I need new parts as they both operate flawlessly. That said, I do recall a reload that did not fire. It might have been a primer strike that was light? The way I see it having a few extra parts might be a good thing. I cleaned up the sear on my SKS and really improved the trigger feel....

I would use something that acts as a lubricant if anything at all. Some are solvent/penetrants. Those in your area will know better than I. My high desert climate is friendly to the cables and not an issue for me. Your salt and moisture is a game changer.

It is always a good idea to pull the battery cables when working on electrical systems. That said, I didn't when I replaced my t-case motor. :D Pulling the cables will reset the PCM and clear all the codes. Sounds like a good time for a fresh read, so I probably would do it. Ditch the quad tip plugs. Too much flame shadow. Swap plugs to the Autolite irridium XP and check the coil for leakage. Try the hairspray trick on the wires, cap, and coil.

Usually the leaky injector will mean a rich start problem. Check valve in the fuel pump will have the plugs read clean.

Go back to thinking fuel pump, or maybe injectors?
Do the fuel system checks to determine what and where.

I suspect either a bad check valve in the fuel pump, or stuck poppets and a leaking injector. The tests will tell the tale.

Usually a bad fan will rotate freely when the oil has all leaked out. I usually see the leak at the front near the spring. Almost impossible to see installed. Running Dex? If so change it out. Did you get a new radiator cap? Stock one is bad. You need the one with the spring loaded vent to keep air out of the system. For street duty I run a full synthetic and use extended change intervals. For offroading and conditions that may contaminate the oil quickly , I use Rotella 15/40. Motorcycles all get Rotella too. HenryJ gets Castrol 20/50.

Totally forgot about the relay on the firewall that the auto-trac vehicles have. Crew cabs don't have that. I think the change to the electric shift front axle eliminated some of the more problematic vacuum system components.

Removing the fender and digging out the heater core never did look like fun. I still remember all the pictures and a full ashtray of cigarettes on the table. Pretty stressful I suspect. Not something I ever looked forward to.

We did have a member long ago who stretched the pcm wiring too far and had problems after his body lift, but that is the only real problem that i can remember.

Easy fix. Common failure point. Cut to the chase and replace the transfercase motor (encoder). Expensive, yes. No loss of fluid is involved. You may need to remove the driveshaft for clearance to remove the bolts. You may need to align the shift shaft to properly clock it for the new installation. I...

First thing that came to mind is condensation from the air conditioning. That shows up as a puddle at the passenger side below the dehydrator. Next is the drain for the cowl. I don't recall, but there may be separate sensors for the oil pressure and fuel pump cut-off. I would have to dig into the books that I let go to find out though ;)
