strange noise s10 possibly possessed!!!

Hello again all I'm back. I need some help with my freaky truck. Last Friday I was towing a riding mower on a small trailer. Out of nowhere I get a funky grinding sound and light vibration. At first I thought it was a tire going down on me. I pulled over and all tires are fine. When I start moving a...

Re: Difference in a crew cab and a ZR5?

Most here that have experience wrenching on these trucks advise not to buy a suspension lift for them unless you are wanting to go big. Even then they say go SFA instead of lifting the IFS. The stock keys allow for more lift than the ball joints and CVs can take. If you need more than an inch or so ...

Re: Difference in a crew cab and a ZR5?

Not much to tell the truth. Mine is a ZR5 and it is just an appearance package. The ZR5s get nice rims, Nerf bars, roof rack, bed rails, gray painted grill-fender flairs and nifty ZR5 decals. "And that, that, thats all folks". I wish the ZR5 trucks would have had something to offer in performance like...

Re: ZR2 rear axle upgrade.

HJ, From talking to them it will be a fight if I don't try it out. But if I pull the cover and it is not near perfect then I'm going to make it look as if I bolted it in then I'll take it back and tell them it whined like crazy. Make them stay good with that 90 day warranty. I just got back inside f...

Re: Lets see those CC's flex!

I'm surprised to see these rigs flexing as well as they are. The 86 Toyota p/u I just sold flexed very good for an IFS truck. But it had a 3.5ft extension mid-frame so I think a lot of flex came from the frame. Wonder how much our frames are flexing!

Re: ZR2 rear axle upgrade.

Well bait and switch I think is the name of the game. Went back to JY and he gives me the story. When they first looked up the rear on the computer he said there was one listed that was an 03 with 10k . He called the other JY to confirm they said typo that it was a 99 with 76k. He told me since they...

Re: ZR2 rear axle upgrade.

:x Well I could not pick up the axle yesterday but went and got it this morning. It did not have the calipers on it but the way it looked I figured I would just swap mine over. After getting it home wife reads tag hooked on one bent lug nut and it says 99 s10. Closer inspection shows rusted out dust...

Re: Trade S10 for Colorado?

I would say that like already pointed out how bad of shape is the s10 in. I'm guessing it is payed off there is a lot to be said for that given todays economic instability . Plus as others pointed out the Colorado is well for lack of words ugly. I'm sure some people like it. But when they rolled tho...

Re: ZR2 rear axle upgrade.

Yep we will take pics and if anything other than bolt in occurs we will post. But I think i'm going to be ok. The rear is out of an 03 zr2 as well and has 76k on it don't know what cab style. It should be complete with all brackets, cables and brakes for 850.00. A steep price I know the one one on Eb...

HJ' On the zr2 axle thread you mentioned some of the other trucks set up with what I had planed. That got me thinking did we lose our photo gallery in the move? Is there space here for us to have one here? On the Jeep forum I'm part of we have a sticky for lifted rigs. I was thinking this would be n...

Re: ZR2 rear axle upgrade.

Thanks again HJ, I was thinking about dropping the springs at the shackles already to try to save some lifting. If we get lucky we use my dolly to roll the old axle out and the zr2 back under. But we all know were a well laid out plan gets us. Anyhow I might take advantage of the springs being dropp...

Re: ZR2 rear axle upgrade.

As badly as I would like to reuse as much of what I already have I need to get this as simple as I can. This because I'm going to be counting on my wife, daughter, and son in law to help (Who am I kidding do this with my instruction). It will be 8 weeks minimum before I regain any use of my right arm....

Re: ZR2 rear axle upgrade.

:D Tax money is in so now Monday I get to try to find a zr2 rear. So now that I'm ready I'm Going to try my local JY and see how much a complete zr2 axle will cost me. They told me 850.00 a couple of weeks ago i'm guessing that was stripped. But now I want to see if they can get one with the followi...

Re: Slow!!!

Rare might not have been the best word. But most places I have been you can't swing a cat without hitting something in the s10 lineup except a crew cab. I go days that the only one I see is mine unless I'm going to parents place then I will see one or two. Both live along the way one is parents neig...

Re: Ditching fog lights aftermarket corners?

I have had headlights like this before but on different vehicles. 94 moowtang gt, 92 f/s chevy, 2000 f150. All of them had an improvement over stock. The f150 was unbelievable I could see a mile ahead.(But it had twice the reflector size) If that holds same for the s10 won't know till I try. If I do...

Ditching fog lights aftermarket corners?

Ok I'm probably driving you guys nuts by now. One of you guys will likely link right to what I'm looking for But I had no luck. I found some headlights and corners that I like. However of course I have factory fogs so corners say they won't fit. But if I remove the fog lights would they fit then? Co...
