Re: Steering column diagram

Just an update on my situation. I was able to get my fingers on the bolt that connects the Coupling and Steering Shaft Assembly (item 62 in the diagram provided by F9K9 above) to item 36 by pushing back the big boot (item 60) towards the firewall. The 15mm nut was very tight and there was no percept...

Re: Steering column diagram

No, I used the DORMAN HELP kit #31002 plus 4 new 1" X5/16" bolt/washer/nuts. My old ragjoint was still in pretty good condition, but was exhibiting a slight amount of looseness, so I changed it. Al

Re: Steering column diagram

I have been chasing the elusive steering wheel noise and freeplay as well. I think mine may be mostly in the steering box since it feels like there is no motion at the pitman arm during the time free play is felt at the steering wheel, but, I want to completely eliminate the column as a culprit befo...

Re: 2002 s10

HenryJ, Thanks for the definition (I kinda suspected sumthing like that). I checked my vacuum at idle 18" and observed a momentary drop when opening the throttle, but it climbed on up to 21" at a steady 2500rpm. I think that is an indication that my exhaust is fairly clear, so I will look elsewhere ...

To Henryj: Pardon my inexperience, but, can you explain "broom handling"? I am considering surgery on precat too. Al

Thanks very much AVTekk. That gives me more confidence to attempt the repair myself. The tips/advice are much appreciated. Alntex

Re: HOW TO: Flaming River U-Joint Steering MOD

Great writeup/photos. I am about to do a ragjoint repair/replacement on my 2002 CC with 2" body lift. All of the writeups I've seen so far have indicated it is pretty easy, but, I am concerned about how to get the shaft out of the truck. After separating it from the steering box, does it simply slid...

I think I'll leave it for now. Another improvement I noticed was that it seemed to hold speed better on hills without dropping OD. Maybe a little broader torque curve? I don't use WOT very much--just a conservative old f--t. BTW is there a topic here about replacing cam position sensor. I just repla...

How to: TB spacer removal

Newbie here, but have been reading on the site for while. Really good info about diffuser mods. About 6 mos ago I modified the blade on my 02 ZR5, but only removed about half of the diffuser by grinding. I did the partial removal because I think some of the posts indicated that total removal resulte...
